Day 17, Year 46 (The Beginning)

Today I am starting a new chapter in my life. I am turning over a new leaf. It's the first day of the rest of my life. Blah, blah, blah. Basically what it comes down to is that I don't have a lot going on today and I am thinking that if I commit, in electronic format, to my plan to become a more healthier version of me, then perhaps, by chance, it will work. Here's an overview of of the current, less-healthier me as of 5/23/11:
  • I am 46 years old, plus 17 days. (My b-day was on May 7)
  • I just weighed myself on my Wii Fit and received a reply of "199" (I prefer to think of it as the computer's reply rather than my actual weight.)
  • Oh yeah, and my "Wii Fit" age was 64!!!!! Remind me to blog about my Walgreen's experience sometime soon. You'll understand why that number is so painful!
  • I am 5 foot 12 inches (makes my husband feel better when I put it in these terms because he's not very tall...at all.)
  • I have entered and won the lottery! The Nike San Francisco Women's Marathon entry lottery, that is. The race is on October October 16, 2011 - exactly 21 weeks away.
  • I have been a social smoker for more years then I want to admit here in black and white. BUT I have recently crossed the line into a more-than-social smoker and I want/need to quit. SO TODAY I QUIT!
  • I drink. In fact I drink alcohol probably 5 out of 7 days/nights of the week. Sometimes just a glass. Other times 5 or 6 glasses.
  • I like to eat. It's no secret. I really dig food...especially good food. And my husband is on a trend of learning how to cook more and more dishes (well) so I get to enjoy eating someone else's food in addition to just the food I prepare.
  • I have an insatiable sweet tooth. Nuff said.
  • In four days I will be celebrating 10 years of being married to my husband
  • Our daughter is almost 9. (She prefers to look at life that way.)
  • I currently work as an independent contractor but am in the interview process for a full time position which will be an enormous lifestyle change for me and the rest of the family.
Here's a list of the goals I hope to accomplish over the next four months:
  • I need to be physically and mentally prepared, meaning strong enough and prepared to finish at least the 1/2 marathon under 2 hours. (My first/last 1/2 marathon time was 2:09 about 14 months and 12 lbs ago.) I'm just really not sure that my big, old body should even attempt a full marathon. And that's OK!
  • I will weigh less than 190. Preferably around 185 would be great.
  • I will no longer be a smoker.
  • I will no longer feel the need/desire to have a cocktail almost every day.
  • I will want to have sex with my husband more often than 4 (average) times a year.
  • I will motivate our daughter to become more physically active and help her to lose her tummy, too.
  • I will be working at a full-tiime position and be happy about it!
Today's efforts: briskly walked the dog for 2 miles. Didn't keep track of the time. Will do tomorrow. Still to do today: shoulder exercises and abs.

Other Notes: Started reading a new book yesterday "Run Like a Mother." I think it may be the catalyst for today's flurry of interest on my behalf.
